Most crashes that result in camera and gimbal damage are the result of the Phantom crashing into the ground, especially pavement, trees, buildings, posts, or other structures. When the Phantom crashes belly down, the weak plastic legs have a tendency to spread apart and expose the camera. The camera is the next part of the Phantom to absorb the impact. Our camera guard is designed to bind the legs together and resist separating. The camera guard also protects the delicate camera and gimbal from impacting foreign objects, such as rocks, curbs, trees, tree branches, poles, electrical wires and other objects narrow enough to pass between the landing legs on the Phantom 3. The sturdy carbon fiber camera guard is the strongest part of the Phantom. The new DJI Phantom 3 still uses a thin ribbon cable that can be easily abraded and damaged when landing or in minor crashes. Our new carbon fiber camera guard features an extension that helps protect the ribbon cable.

It’s made out of carbon fiber, so it weighs next to nothing yet is a strong material. I did not notice degraded flights times/flight dynamics while…
